Access Jack
for the IP-2 and the Internal Mic
Use the Access Jack to connect a second transducer to the IP-2.
The Access Jack is wired directly through to the Ring on the 1/4" output jack. For maximum flexibility there is no dedicated mic preamp in the IP-2 (just the preamp for the Highlander pickup). This is why it is possible to use a magnetic sound hole pickup or any other type of transducer as a second sound source.

The Internal Highlander Mic is the perfect mate for the IP-2.
This NEW microphone's performance is optimized for use inside of an Acoustic Guitar. It does not require a Mic Adapter

Highlander's Mic Adapter optimizes the performance of a wide range of condenser microphones when used with the IP-2.

How to Wire Magnetic Pickups or Wire Mics for use with Phantom Power

Wire Magnetic Pickups to the tip and Sleeve. Leave the ring unconnected (open).
If phantom power is to be used, then it can be wired to the microphone directly on the audio line (as usual). Leave the ring unconnected (open).

The Highlander preamplifier cannot be phantom powered.

9-volts from the battery is available on the ring of the Access Jack for powering an electret (condenser) microphone. Battery power is switched on when a plug is inserted in the ΒΌ" Socket. The power is not intended to be connected directly to a microphone. Condenser microphones should be powered using one of our Mic Adapters. The battery life of an IP-2 with a typical microphone ranges from 500 hours to 800 hours.

IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE USING A PASSIVE TRANSDUCER SUCH AS A MAGNETIC SOUND HOLE PICKUP OR DYNAMIC MICROPHONE THAT IS NOT PRE-WIRED BY HIGHLANDER, THEN YOU MUST USE A STEREO 3.5mm MALE CONNECTOR (LIKE THE ONE PROVIDED) AND LEAVE THE RING OPEN. SHORTING THE RING TO GROUND WILL CAUSE SEVERE BATTERY DAMAGE. SHORTING THE RING TO THE TIP COULD DAMAGE THE (SECOND) TRANSDUCER AND/OR THE EQUIPMENT THAT YOU SUBSEQUENTLY PLUG INTO.
